ONGOING PROJECTS INVOLVING FIELDWORK
In Uganda:
Two field experiments about the working conditions and incentives of female loan officers in Microfinance Group lending in BRAC Uganda. The project is joint with researchers Dr. Erika Deserranno (Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University) and Ms. Lame Ungwang (PhD Candidate at Friedrich Schiller University, Jena) and carried out in partnership with BRAC Uganda Microfinance. Within the framework of BRAC's lending program, which serves more than 200,000 female borrowers in Uganda, we implemented changes in the bonus structure of loan officers, as well as in the rotation of loan officers between groups of borrowers. The experiments were initiated in 2018 and completed in early 2020.
In Israel:
A field experiment that evaluates the effect of deadlines and reminders related to a key component of the curriculum on graduation rates in vocational colleges. The project is joint with researcher Dr. Naomi Gershoni (Ben-Gurion University), and carried out in partnership with the Israeli National Institute for Technical Training, which is the regulator of vocational colleges in Israel. The experiment was initiated in 2019 and is ongoing.
